Summary

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Custodial Engineer will be responsible for the daily cleaning, disinfecting and maintenance of temporary and permanent housing facilities and collaborative sites in accordance with regulations set forth by local housing regulatory agencies and the Department of Health Services.

Essential Functions

  • Perform detailed cleaning of entire facility every 4 hours
  • Inspect all common and public occupied areas on an hourly basis including but not limited to mopping the floor, cleaning of all grills, countertops and floors, disinfecting toilets and sinks and cleaning all other visible Stock napkins, toilet paper and other paper products as needed.
  • Perform detailed cleaning of the restroom and shower facilities on an hourly
  • Monitor all areas for adequate supplies to include soap, and paper towels
  • Maintain hourly log of all areas
  • Receive and inventories all cleaning supplies on daily
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the facility on a daily basis to include detailed cleaning of all grills, countertops and All cleanings should be documented in the form of a daily log.
  • Empty all trash cans on an hourly
  • Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as
  • Maintain a high standard for safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair
  • Inspects assigned areas; corrects or reports safety hazards; cleans and maintains facility
  • Operates and maintains a variety of hand and power tools and equipment related to
  • Perform preventive maintain, repair, and instillation in connection with:
    1. Plumbing and HVAC systems
    2. Exterior and interior of building
    3. Shelter grounds
  • Observes safe work methods and uses safety equipment; secures worksites from safety hazards, as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as
  • Dispatch emergency needs to a Manager or Director Minimum Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Knowledge of:
  • Business English, spelling, and basic math
  • Standard cleaning procedures
  • Chemical Solutions

Skill To:

  • Combine chemicals for the purposes of commercial cleaning

Ability To:

  • Make arithmetical computations with speed and accuracy
  • Maintain records and prepare reports
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees

  • Serve as a Team Player and operate with a sense of urgency Education Requirement: High School Diploma/G.E.

Clearances and Licenses:  TB Clearance and Live Scan/Background Required

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions)

This position is responsible to work in “client friendly” environments and is required to visit other shelters and homeless access centers as part of their duties. Local automobile travel is required. There is some responsibility to work in noisy environments where children and adults are present.

Physical Requirements

The Custodial Engineer typically spends time sitting, standing, thinking, writing, walking, driving, lifting (max. 50 lbs), listening, speaking.

Mental Requirements

This position will require the individual to be able to handle any/all of the following: constant distractions, interruptions and uncontrollable changes in priorities/ work schedules. Must be able to process information, think and conceptualize.
